From three inputs to a virtual fit trial
Height and weight do not determine a body. Fit Grades generates many plausible bodies with the same sex category, stature (height), and body mass index (BMI, a measure of weight relative to height), then checks each one against the available product dimensions.
Two datasets, two jobs
NHANES 2017–March 2020 estimates where U.S. civilian adults age 20+ rank for height, weight, and BMI. Relationships among measurements in ANSUR II help generate plausible combinations of the remaining body dimensions. The two datasets have different jobs.
What the letter means
The grade is based on the share of simulated similar bodies that meet every required fit criterion. An A means at least 85% did so. Preference-oriented position or support criteria remain visible and can lower an A or B by one band.
Current limits
The current model is adult-only and uses the female and male categories available in the source data. It estimates rather than measures body dimensions. Product grades cover only explicitly listed published dimensions and do not rate quality, value, durability, subjective comfort, accessibility, or safety.
